Flagstone Walkway Restoration
We were out in West Chester this week restoring an older flagstone walkway that had developed loose stones and deteriorating mortar joints over time. As water seeped beneath the stones and froze through the winter, the mortar cracked, leaving several flagstones shifting underfoot. We carefully removed the loose mortar, thoroughly cleaned out the joints down to a solid base, and re-set the flagstone pieces in a fresh bed of polymer-modified mortar. We then repointed all the seams to create a watertight seal that keeps weeds out and prevents future freeze-thaw damage.
